We have umpiring, coaching and First Aid courses coming up in the next few weeks. These courses are proving popular so make sure you sign up soon to avoid disappointment

Sunday 22nd September – ECB Introduction to Umpiring Course at Cottenham Sports Pavilion
This course is designed to give new umpires the key skills, knowledge and confidence to stand as an umpire in cricket. Whether you plan to support Junior Softball cricket through to adult cricket, this course will cover the following topics:

– Understanding the role of the umpire
– Gain a basic understanding of umpiring the game
– Answering appeals and the common methods of dismissal
– How to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the game

This course follows on from the Umpiring Skills Workshops run both pre and during the 2024 season and from those workshops it is clear a wider understanding into the Laws of the Game, Sportsmanship and the Spirit of Cricket is required by a wider cross-section of the cricketing family. The cost is £70 per delegate and we hope each club will encourage and subsidise at least one member of their club to attend.

Sunday 29th September – ECB Support Coach at Chippenham Cricket Club
Our friends at Chippenham CC have a number of their members wanting to attend this course and we are sure in your club you have members and parents who would be brilliant help during your winter junior programmes, So we would like to extend our invitation to these important club members
The course is taking place from 10am to 1pm at Chippenham Cricket Club, Parkside, Chippenham, CB7 5PS. Delivered by our brilliant and experienced ECB Tutors, this programme has been developed to equip learners with the knowledge, expertise, and self-assurance required to support qualified coaches and enhance the experience of players.

Sundays 6th and 13th October ECB Foundation Coach Course – Comberton Village College Leisure Centre
This programme has been designed to develop a learner’s knowledge, skills and confidence to use icoachcricket to lead safe, fun and inclusive sessions that ignite a lifelong love of our game.
This popular course combines both on-line and face-to-face modules to really underline the core steps behind the ECB Coaching principles and gives learners the chance to practice their coaching. Each day of the face-to-face modules run from 9.30am to 4.00pm. Sundays 27th Oct, 3rd, 17th and 24th Nov – ECB Core Coach – Comberton Village College Leisure Centre
This programme has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead player-centred coaching sessions. taking a players love of the game and helping them develop skills to allow them to progress through the game. This course also combines both on-line and face-to-face modules and focuses on starting to develop skills and drills in different aspects of the game, building on the ECB coaching principles. Each day of the face-to-face modules run from 9.30am to 4.00pm. This course is perfect for an Foundation Coach/Level 1 coach looking to widen their skills or an experienced player looking to develop as a Coach. Wednesday 13th November – Emergency First Aid – Spicers Pavilion, Cambridge Road, Sawston
We have two courses coming up on Wednesday 13th November both being held at the Sawston & Babraham CC Spicers Pavilion, Cambridge Road, Sawston and led by the very popular Emma Walker.

Every club needs more 1st Aiders and we are aware that those who attended our first First Aid courses post-Covid will be about to expire at the end of 2024, so please discuss and pre-plan the re-training with your members

There is a cost of £40 per candidate on the First Aid courses, this represents good value compared to other providers and is priced to purely break even, taking into consideration both room hire and tutor costs.

We hope as a Club Committee you consider the needs not only of your Club, but the benefit of having more Coaches, Umpires and First Aiders will have on our sport and the experience provided to all who play and watch our game.
