On Sunday we celebrated our U11 Girls’ Soft Ball teams with an end of season festival day kindly hosted by Sawston & Babraham CC.
We welcomed clubs from across our U11G leagues, a newly formed all girls team, and we created a ‘Cambs Crickets’ team which included all the girls who were attending as part of a bigger squad:
In the morning, the teams were split into two small groups to play matches against each other, all of which were very closely contested! The results came down to the most runs scored for both groups, which was very impressive. These results set the scene for the afternoon with the scheduled matches for overall placings.
The match for 1st place saw Chippenham take on newcomers Coton, Sawston played against Royston, March Town took on Histon and Cambs Crickets played City of Ely.
Results:
Winners: Coton CC
Runners-Up: Chippenham CC
Royston
Sawston
March
Histon
Ely
Cambs Crickets
A huge well done to all the players who took part, on what was an extremely hot day!
It was fantastic to see the talent, resilience and kindness showed by all participants and a huge thank you to the clubs coaches, managers, parents and Sawston’s volunteers for making the day run so smoothly.
Also a huge thank you to our official umpires, Louise and Dan, who volunteered their time yesterday, and who both commented on the amazing level of cricket that was displayed.
