Men’s County Cricket

The current “Cambridgeshire County Cricket Club” was founded on 6 June 1891 and Cambridgeshire first took part in the Minor Counties Championship in the competition’s fourth season, 1898; and has competed every season since with the exception of 1902 and 1920.

Notable Cambridgeshire CCC cricketers to have made an impact on the international game are RanjitsinhjiSir Jack HobbsTom Haywood JnrBill HitchJohnny Wardle and Mike Brearley (Eng), Terry Jenner (Aus), Derick Parry and Gerry Alexander (WI). Among many First Class cricketers to appear for Cambridgeshire in the last 20 years are Peter SuchSimon KellettStuart TurnerDarren BicknellRobert RollinsJoe GrantDamian BrandyBen HowgegoBen SmithJamie SykesPaul McMahon and Recordo Gordon; and most recently Rob Sayer and Wayne White.

In 1963 Cambridgeshire won the Minor Counties Championship for their only time; however, they have won two one-day finals at Lord’s (1995 & 2003), and the Eastern Division in 2011 & 2013.

To date we have several players that have progressed through our pathway and now playing First Class Cricket; Tom Westley, Michael Pepper, Zaman Akhter, George Gowler and Noah Thain.

Our 2nd XI are currently back to back champions (2022 & 2023) of the East Anglian Development Competition, where our side was made up entirely of current and former Cambridgeshire Young Cricketers (CYC)
